I thought there was no way I could ever become, since we have tried for over 10 yrs now, but here I am pregnant! Has anyone ever gone through this or know someone who has? What are my chances of having a normal baby. I added it up and have taken 60 pills of Loratab! I am a nervous wreck!! Anyone?
Thanks

I wouldn't worry, I am pregnant right now (25 weeks) and my obgyn prescribes vicodin for my severe migraines, since I can't take my zomig. Just talk to yours and I'm sure he will put your mind at ease, there hasn't been any findings on birth defects from this medicine, you just need to becareful not to take it on a daily basis close to delivery since the baby can be born addicted. I have a really good doctor and I know they wouldn't do anything to harm me or my unborn child, please try to relax, everything is going to be just fine...promise!!!! :) Let me know how it goes, and congrats!!!!!

Congratulations Louise!! That is terrific news. I think you are off to a wonderful, wonderful New Year!! I don't think you have anything to fear as far as narcotics causing birth defects. As the other poster suggested you do have to be careful that the baby isn't born addicted though. You should speak with your doc though and have him/her to reassure you. Again congrats!!

Hi and congratulations!!!!
Don't worry a bit...I was pregnant with twins and had many many problems with my kidneys. The babies were laying on my kidneys and causes fluid to build up...very painful. They had me on percocet. I had 3 surgeries while pregnant and after each surgery they had me on demoral. Since I had cervical cancer prior to becoming pregant, I had high risk doctors for the fear of the babies being born premature..which they were. 26 weeks gestation. But throughout most of my pregnancy, I was either on percocet, demoral or morphine. My babies even though they were born 1.5lbs & 1.10lbs were healthy. just tiny. Today 3 years later, they are above average in IQ. They are wonderful. So don't worry..just enjoy!!!

Louise...first of all, congrats!! Wow after 10 years of trying?? thats great!!
I was on Lortab thruout my whole pregnancy *my daughter is 20 months now*. I took 6 10 mg pills a day most of it..but tried to taper down and off during the last 2 months. I wasnt able to get below 3 pills a day because my BP would get real high due to the pain. And that was worse for the baby than the pills were.
One thing that was critical to my situation was having a peri-natal doc involved along with my ob doc. It was their suggestions that put my ob doc at ease. He even prescribed for me the last 2 months.
My baby wasnt born with any signs of addiction at all....and I took 30 mgs a day up until the day I delivered. Of course it IS best if you can taper off the last 2 months or so. But as I was told...there are sometimes when its just better for the baby for you to have relief from the pain. The results outweigh the risk.
Hope that makes sense. You should talk to your OB right away. Depending on whatever other meds you are on, there may need to be changes made. I would also ask your OB to recommend a peri-natal doc.
Good luck!!
