I am seriously thinking of getting laser hair removal treatment for my back and chest. I have dark, not really coarse but thick hair. Anyway's I'm tired of having to shave once a week. I'm in my early twenties and the hair on my body looks like ones a sixty year old should have. See, I wouldn't mind having a hairy body if I was 40, 50 and so on but I'm still young and really don't want to be self-concious all the time. This has been a problem since my late teens and now it's starting to take its toll. I can only go to the beach on the day I shave my body because it'll grow back enough to see the next day. I can't shave everyday because my hair is so thick and I end up with folliculitis. So I researched a little on hair removal products and came across Laser Hair Removal Treatment. I've heard of this procedure before but wasn't too educated on the subject so I was skeptical. But what made me really want to do this procedure was that is was permanent. I also saw some pretty amazing before and after photos. One guy's back was so filled with hair you couldn't even see one space of skin on his back! The after shot was shocking let me tell ya. I also heard of electrolysis but saw that the process could be very slow and sometimes even painful especially for people with thick hair. Any thoughts are encouraged. I really do need some advise. Thanks :)

It works better for some folks than for others, and initially you'll have to have multiple treatments (at least 3). If it works after the intial treatments you'll then have to have the occasional follow up treatment......it is NOT permanent and if the doc tries to tell you it is then ask him to back it up in writing. Chances are he won't.

I've had it done and am pretty happy with the results. I stopped after 3 treatments (the minimum recommended), but I think I would have been much happier if I had gotten another one or two since I did have a few stray hairs grow back. Although my doctor did not offer a guarantee, I have seen ads for places that will do free touch-ups for life if you purchase six treatments.

Can you tell me how much the treatments were? Cost is another issue I have about this. Thanks

It depends on your location. In my neck of the woods they were $350 per treatment.

I've been having it done and I'm pleased with it. Yeah, it's expensive, but I think it's worthwhile. My derm. sets it up so when I went for my first 2 treatments, it cost me $300 - now every time I go for "clean up", it costs $150, and that usually lasts about 2 months for me. Cleaner and easier than waxing and shaving.
Good Luck!
