Tonight I was sitting in my living room and i looked up at the light(flourescent bulb type) and i saw these little dots, hundreds of them and they were swarming around and it looked like a little war going on with some type of bacteria or something. Anyone have any knowledge of what this is? I am concerned.

It might be floaters in your eye. It is not uncommon to see semi-transparent irregular lines or dots when looking at a bright background. It tends to happen more as we get older. It is rarely a sign or anything serious. The eye is filled with a jelly like substance known as vitreous. It tends to get watery as we get older. This liquified jelly sloshes around a bit and it causes the fibres running through the vitreous to pull loose from the retina because they are loosely attached there. When they pull loose they can cast a little shadow on the retina. These vitreous changes occur to everybody, but not everyone notices them.
However if you have noticed them a lot, or if you are getting flashing lights, any pain, any loss of peripheral vision, visual acuity loss, or if they are constantly seen, then you should get an immediate appointment with an ophthalmologist.
Hope this helps.

If they came up all of a sudden then it could be a detached retina which is serious. Take Aurora's advice and see an ophthalmologist.
