Mom is 76 and started showing signs of AD about 1.5 yrs ago. About 8 months ago she stopped speaking at all. Facial expressions and touchig are the only clue we have about when she seems to recognize someone or express frustration.

Any advice to get her to say a few words not ang again?

I suggest that you take your mother to see a neurologist. There are other reasons besides the Alzheimers for inability to speak. You need to be sure.

You don't need to speak to be able to communicate with someone. eye contact and physical communication are psychologically the most emotionally fulfilling.
Don't feel upset coz you're mums not talking to you...she loves you just as much now as she did before she developed AD.
All my love Always,

Do you have any facilities in your area that specialize in gerontology? Maybe they would have some suggestions. Otherwise, there are a number of Alzheimer sites (I'm starting to look for information myself regarding my mother).

God bless.
