if you're having memory loss or blackouts and you're taking any of the statin drugs tell me your story! I see lots of people looking at my message but no one leaving any replies!
I have found that statin drugs can cause memory loss and some of the people given these drugs are in the 40's or 50's. I this case you may not know that the drug your taking is making you to forget things, you just think it's your age. This happened to me so I know it does happen.
If you think this is happening to you please add to this topic.

Hi - I'm found your message while searching for info on Lipitor and memory loss. I just read about a possible connection in the newspaper yesterday. My father takes lipitor and his memory has gotten quite bad over the last year. I don't know how long he has been on lipitor but I plan to talk with my stepmom about this tomorrow. I also have an aunt who on been on it for about 6 months and plan to talk with her. I would love to know what you have found out about a possible connection. Do you know if the memory loss is reversible if a person stops taking the statin drugs?

Thanks

Gee,
I take a statin drug but don't think it has affected my memory, but how would I really know? I once took Lopressor (sp?) and made the doctor change due to memory loss. Even had problems with thinking.

I'm 66 so you raise an intresting question, especially if you gather some evidence.

Good Luck, God Bless, Mace

Thanks!,
Looked over the information you sent and though very intresting, don't think I've got the problems suggested.

Still I will check with my doctor since the question on my mind is would I know?

God Bless, Mace

your doctor will not know about the memory loss part of statin drugs! we're trying to get this info. out to everybody and as of now doctors haven't been warned. most of the tv stations will not touch the story because they make to much with all the adds from the drug co's.

Hi, I'm a 37 yo male and I was on Zocor for a couple of years. I stopped about 8 mos. ago because I firmly believe that my memory got some major holes blown in it..
I still can't remember anything anymore and I'm only 37..

My husband is 56 years old and started taking Zocor about 1 1/2 years ago. Since that time, he has started having major problems with verbal communication (I think it's called aphasia). He says he knows what he wants to say, he just can't get it to come out of his mouth. He hasn't had any noticeable problems with his memory. The last time he went to his doctor, he asked him if his meds might be causing his problem (he is also taking Daypro for arthritis), and the doctor said no. Does anyone think the Zocor could cause this problem. I still think that's what it is, because the problem didn't start until after he started taking the Zocor.
