You can get either Natural Tears eye drops... preferably without preservatives, if you're going to use it for long term.
There are also ointments that you can put in your eyes before going to sleep, which also help.

Are the ointments prescription or over the counter ointment?

Hi-
You could also try REFRESH Lubricant Eye drops. Preservative free. Over the counter. Really good stuff for dryness and irritation. My eye doctor recommended it.

Thank you for the eye drop suggestion. How often do you feel it is necessary to put your eye drops in?

With REFRESH, since it does not contain any vasoconstrictors (like Visine does), you may use it as often as needed.

Saw your topic and had to chime in. I have dry eyes. I use eye drops 1-2 times a day (esp. in winter). Sometimes I have to use it in the middle of the night.
I will get a headache from dry eyes.
I use the eyedrops that are the individual vials. It keeps it fresh and also sanitary. I also use Refresh.
