Yesterday I found a bright red mark on my right leg when I went to the bathroom. Although bigger than a mosquito bite or something like that I figured it was no big deal and left it alone. This morning I woke up to find that the irritated area has grown in size, and in addition a thin line leading away from the source of the irritation, as though something were crawling under my skin. There appear to be one or two small bite marks at the origin, where I find it to be occassionally itchy.
I am thinking that maybe it is some kind of parasite, but really I have NO IDEA what this is, if anyone has a hunch or can give me some information, please!!

A red/blue line or streak spreading away from from an irritated area towards your heart means that you have an infection, and should see a doctor as soon as possible.

Timber isn't kiddin!! My son got blood poisoning from a cut under his toe that healed before the infection got out. It first started with just his toe being swollen and red. I had my husband drop me at work and take him to the pediatritian, and in five hours when he came back to get me it was up to his knee!!! I was expecting streaks to look more like a blood vessel, but my sons was about an inch and a half wide and moving fast.
Please get to the doc immediately and while you're at it, take a pen or marker and make a dotted outline of where the redness is right now so that you can tell exactly how much it's growing and how fast.
As for it being a parasite, sounds unlikely, but could be a bad reaction to a spider. The crawling sensation could also be the reaction of the skin to the infection.
Best of luck, get to the doc, then let us all know how you're doing.
