I was just informed by my Dr. that I have a minor case of Mitral Regurgitation. He says there is no need for worry but that just caused me to worry more.I mean this IS the heart were talking about.Maybe I'm overreacting but I've done my own research on the internet about this condition and it didn't appear as minor as he said.Does any one else on this board have this condition and if so could you please share any additional informaton. Thanks!

Hi,

I have this problem too and was told the same thing as you. What did you read that has you worried?

Peace,

I have it too and I have MVP. I was told the same as you...it's not serious but I disagree due to much research. Your "flap" isn't closing the whole way causing the blood to back flow. This makes the heart work harder. Anything that makes the heart work harder is bad. Eventually it will either get enlarged or fail. I'm not talking next week so calm down. :) Down the road...and some people do have valve replacements to correct this. So, keep your heart as healthy as a horse..plenty of exercise, eating right and lower your stress and regular checkups. The healthier your heart the better it will tick and the stronger it will be.
