Tomorrow Im going to my first pain managment appointment for this pain in my pack. About 8 years ago when I had my son, I was given an epidural. Since I went home from the hospital 8years ago, every day I would go numb from the waist down and drop to the floor. Well This begins with a quick stab in the middle of my back, cramping from that point on and spreads quick down my legs. Theres nothing they can prove..... theres nothing wrong according to my neurologist. What should I say to the doc tomorrow???????? Im so tired of being in pain and Im afraid Im not gonna get the meds that work. Any suggestions?

Hi Titan :) Welcome:)

My name is Kim and Im in a similar situation where the doctors are exploring where exactly the cause of my pain is also.

Because my pain, like yours, was becoming increasingly more difficult to control, and there was no seemingly reason for the pain within the near future-- I was sent to PM (pain management) also.

the purpose of Pain Management for them to help you get releif from the pain. For me we tried several off lable neuropic drugs that helped a lot in numbing my pain (it stops signals sending messages from the brain to parts of the body) and we finally found one that works great on my pain now. Im also on a reginime of opids for pain too, and muscle relaxers.

I am also seeing a pain psychologist at the PM center that specialists in helping me deal with chronic pain and helping me with depression and has me on Anti depressants.. but we are also working with Bio Therapy and visualisation tactics too-- things that will give me the mental and emotional tools to work with besides just the meds:)

PM trys to help you in all areas of your life and will focus on all parts of your being. It is the place to be when your hurting and ESPESIALLY no one knows why, becuase they are there to help you be more then just a shell, and get you out and help you.

Yes, bring all that you have had done.. make sure that your dr. has permission to be in contact with them, and them him.. Thats very important!! Also remember to tell them all that your on, include OTC things such as asprin and vitamins too-- some meds are intolerable to such things. And be as truthful as possible:)

Love and Prayers,

Kim:)
