View Full Version : Is my daughter doomes to need glasses?

My husband got glasses at 5 years old and has a strong prescription today (-4.5) I needed glasses at around 17 years of age. Does this pretty much guarantee that my 22 month old daughter will need glasses as a CHILD? Are there any parents out there who both have glasses but kids did not need them as children?

Thanks

Hiya. No it doesn't automatically mean your daughter will need glasses as a child. I know of many families where the kids have 'perfect' vision and yet both their parents wore glasses as children. However, I would recommend that you regularly get her vision checked.
Take care,

I think it's likely your daughter will need glasses, but not definite. My entire family has glasses (my mom and I have particularly bad vision, about -7.0), and I got mine when I was in third grade. I do think there are genetics involved in it, but if the genes came together right, she may not need glasses as a child.
