I'm a 25 years old female. I was diagnosed with inappropriate sinus tachycardia and mitral valve prolapse about 6 months ago. I had a TIA at the age of 18. I have been on Toprol XL, Verapamil and am now taking 30mg of Nadolol. I am now experiencing dizziness, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, palpitations, night sweats, extremely cold hands/feet and blackouts. I am sleeping about 10-12 hours at night and napping during the day. My other problem is that that while I am watching tv or laying around my heart rate is dropping into the 40-50's. Is that normal? My first cardiologist talked to me about a ablation and pacemaker. The EP I am now seeing does not want to do this. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Any opinions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

First of all {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I know it is hard for you, but keep seeking out medical attention. If you aren't comfortable with his choices, seek another doctors oppinion. Why did you leave your first one?

Have you told your doctor about your new problems? This is something that should be brought to their attention if they are not aware of it. Does he have your old files from your previous cardio?

Do you have a blood clotting disorder? Curios about the TIA you had at 18.

My daughter suffers from Bradycardia. Sick Sinus Syndrome and Atrial blocks. She has many of the same type of symptoms that you are experiencing.

She was diagnosed with SVT (supraventriculartachycardia) at the age of 6, after she suffered a heart attack due to a blood clot. She had an ablation that corrected the rapid heart rate, but now suffers the slower heart rate. She beats 40-50 at all times, sometimes falling into the 30's, especially when laying or sitting. This is when I take her to the hospital and they usually keep her for a couple days to see if she recovers back to 40-50 bpm.

We have been waiting for a pace maker for a long time now, and it is aggravating. I have learned every doctor has their own opinions about what needs to be done. I had to find one that I felt comfortable with and trusted. I have taken my daughter from the midwest to the west coast and back to find one that would help her. But even with this doctor, blood clotting causes a problem for her. It complicates things even more.

Talk to your doctor about what the previous cardio had told you. Express your concerns to him and let them know of all these things happening to you.

Let me know what is going on with you and how your doctor is responding. I am curious of his reasoning as to why he doesn't want to do the ablation and pace maker.

I know what you are going through, and it is tough being sick like this. I will keep you in my prayers.

I was also diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse years ago. I used to feel tired easily, have rather low energy levels and have low tolerance of work and social activities. Later I find that regular swimming does me good. It improves my energy level and makes me feel less tired. You can try this.

ends.
