View Full Version : How long till i'm no longer in pain????

Wednesday afternoon/evening i had a cystoscopy done. was supposed to be a ureteroscopy (sorry if the spelling is bad), but after the cysto, my urologist realized that i was correct when i said i passed the stone. I thought for a few days that i did pass the stone, but then every once in awhile, i would feel sore around my vagina opening, so then i thought, maybe i didn't pass the stone. but sure enough, i did pass the stone.

anyways...wednesday night came home, felt no pain. stupid me, thinking that was great that everything was normal, not realizing the hospital pretty much doped me up on medication so of course i won't feel anything....yes, i tend to be a real blonde at times.

however, here it is 30 hours later and 2 vicodin's later...and i'm in pain. my right kidney hurts, which is where the stones came from and my pelvic area hurts like crazy. once the vicodin kicks in though, i seem to be pretty good, but i was asleep for about 45 minutes and woke up tonight with my kidney being painful and my pelvic area being painful. it almost feels worst then when i first had the stones!!!

so, how long should it roughly take till it stops hurting when i urinate, till my kidney stops feeling like it is ripping out of me and till my pelvic area can feel normal again? my urologist told my boyfriend, i'd be sore for a few days....but i didn't know a cystoscopy would feel this horrible afterwards!!! so any heads up would be great.

took i think 5 hot baths today, just took one now and it's after 1am here. at least then, for a few minutes i feel ok. in fact, i took one bath at like 12:30am and then again little before 1am. would have stayed in longer, but i started running out of hot water. now the vicodin is kicking in and i'm starting to feel OK, but i truly want to know, how much longer will i have to deal with this pain...i know everyone is different, but at least some idea would be wonderful!

i'm just hoping this isn't a complication...is it supposed to hurt in my kidney? my boyfriend...son of a doctor told me....a scope was up, poking at my insides, of course i'm going to hurt.....maybe he's right, but i have a fear of doctors and a low tolerance to pain....so again, any suggestions would be wonderful about how long it should take to feel better.

thanks!

Charlene i can tell you after the cystoscopy i had i was only in pain for a few days, they put a sten in and that bothered me more than anything else. For the first four days after the procedure it hurt to pee, it hurt in the pelvic area, it hurt in the kidney, the thing is to not be active at all. Become a completel couch potato for four days. I couldn't tell you exactly how long it took not to feel pain because i never took any vicodin or painkillers after my surgery, most of my pain was from the bruising i had from the litho after they did they cysto.

I always had pain with the stent, so i have to agree that yeah they ere poking around and your gonna hurt for a about a week, the first four days is the worst. sleep as much as possible, be a couch potato. What your feeling is normal, heck i had my surgery on the 22nd of Dec and i still get occasional mild pain but i just got stent out on wednesday

Flexeril works wonders.
