Hi, I'm probably posting my questions too soon because I do not know yet what level/stage my brother is in. He was supposed to see a specialist today. He was told he had bronchial cancer, small cell type, and that it was spreading rapidly. He is 49 and is a heavy smoker and obese. He's had bronchitis quite frequently and just recently had pnemonia. Anybody have experience with these symptoms? I don't know what to expect and the info I'm reading on the cancer websites is scaring me. I know I shouldn't panic until I know more. Thanks for your support and God bless.

Yes, he did have that done. He starts chemo this week to try and shrink so doc can do surgery. I still don't know the exact name of the cancer and he doesn't like to talk about it.

My brother is now waiting to get a PET scan. Any treatments will begin after that. He is frustrated right now because insurance is taking so long to approve this test. He has a large tumor at the base of the bronchial tube at the lung. They hope to shrink it enough to operate. Anyone have experience with this?

My brother finally told us the exact diagnosis - I think he didn't want us to know right away until he dealt with it. Non-Small Cell Cancer Stage IIIB.

My brother is having trouble eating. He tries to eat small bites and the radiation is making it difficult to swallow due to a sore throat. He is drinking this mixture aloe and white grape juice that is supposed to soothe but it doesn't always work. I appreciate any advice on eating that you can offer.
