A MUGA scan is a test to show what your ejection fraction is. Normal ejection fraction is 50%-70%. It is the amout of blood that is being pumped out of the heart into the rest of the body. It also shows the walls of the heart and if the heart is enlarged or if there are any abnormal growths. Basically it is a little more advaned echo to get the ejection fractions exact number and not an approximate. They will give you 2 injections before the test. The first one is a gluely like substance, and the second one is the tracer. You get the first injection then wait 15 minutes for the second injection. The tracer then travels through your blood through the heart and then you get pictures taken of the heart. The whole test is about 45mins to an hour long. I just had my 2nd MUGA last Wednesday.
Hope this helps.

Thanx Ladybug. I didn't realize that an echo didn't give a TRUE ejction fraction.
