View Full Version : Switching health insurance plans

I graduated from college last May, and after graduating I bought short term health insurance that will expire in February. I'm thinking about switching to a PPO plan with another company. But I'm also looking for another job right now, and when I find that job in the next few months I will probably switch again to another plan with another company. Will all this switching from health insurance company to health insurance company look bad on my future ability to be approved for health insurance?

Hello,

Health Insurance plans do not go on anything like a health credit report. If you have any kind of ongoing condition, the one thing you want to prevent is a lapse in coverage because then plans will count whatever that condition is as "pre-existing" and not cover it. People switch plans all the time .. whether they change jobs or the company changes its health insurance or you decide on someone else during open enrollment. Changing plans is no big deal ... but a lapse in coverage can be a big deal.
