hey, i have had CFS/Fibro for 13 months and i saw my specialist on thurs, and he told me to cut out all dairy products and red meat from my diet, and eat all organic food where possible, to reduce pain/stomach probs n headches/migraines. Also taking 4 supplements, but i cant remember the names (hes sending a letter), but will update when i know them.
I am willing to try anything but this is quiet restricted and i havent heard of anybody else being recommended this.
He also says its very good for everyone because there is a correllation between amount of butter eaten n incidence of breast cancer when older!!
Just wondering has anybody tried this, for CFS or other health reasons and was it beneficial?
thanks,
sam xx.

I have heard before of doctor's reccomending this, but then after a period of time (2 months) slowley re-introducing foods to see what items may make you feel worse. I myself haven't tried this, my mother has tried a edited version that seemed to have some results. One doctor I saw also suggested to me to try a diabetic diet even though I don't have diabeties. I haven't tried it yet. Let me know if anything works out for you :)

Give it a try! It might be hard at first but it's worth it if it brings some relief, right?
I've been going to an asian medicine doctor and he told me to cut out all - oil/fat, red meat, dairy, white sugar and not to eat too much bread or fruit. I've been on this "diet" for 8 months. No drastic changes, except for a couple of weeks in August when I thought I was on my way to a cure, but sadly I went back to how I was. I have however lost 7kg, so I might feel terrible but at least I look goood heh. Anyway it's healthy so I'll keep going and hopefully it helps in the long run. I am however still drinking... should I really cut out all alcohol?

Hi Sammi, the research that i have read over the last 7 years has led me to believe that a great deal of the problems in our bodies are caused by Dairy, Gluten & Sugar. I am new here & it saddens me to find most people do not seem to know how much what they eat affects them. I am not a saint i eat pizza once a week, but i know that the next day i will have pain in my legs & feel slightly nauseous, but i feel its worth it. :) Even a lot of fruit has the same affect. If i ate dairy, gluten, sugar at the rate a lot of people seem to, i know (i have found in the past) i would be someone incredibly depressed, no energy & joint pain, so then i guess i could give it a label?? A t the end of the day people these days are riddled with food intolerances & these will never show up on a blood test, how many people are told there is nothing wrong with them but they feel terrible? Millions & its down to food intolerances, Candida & Leaky Gut.

I was a vegetarian for 10 years. No red meat. NO one should tell you to stop red meat. It is VERY important. Has B12 and many things. You cannot get the same nutrients in other food. I THOUGHT I could. I was very ill. It made my CFS worse. I am kicking myself for not eating red meat. You just need a bit two times a week. Stop sugar, but never stop fruits and veggies. That is rediculous. Eat foods that are GOOD for you. A doctor or nutritionist should know that. Balance is the key. Also, ask about the injection for B12. VERY important.

Try eating boiled ground flax seed. I cook it with rolled oats, but you could cook it in anything. i overcame exercise intolerance and chronic fatigue[i spent twenty hours a day in bed] by totalling changing my diet. Now, I eat real healthy and take a vitmain/mineral supplement. I eat oats, ground flax seed, brown rice, spinach, raw carrots, whole wheat bread, one percent milk, low fat or nonfat yogurt, lean meats and lots of fruits and assorted vegetables. This week I feel like I am cured. Since i started cooking the ground flax seed with the oats my mental and physical energy has risen nicely. I'm basically active from about 745am to 1230am. I turn off the tv after David Letterman. Last week I rode the exercise bike five times for forty five minutes. This is up from doing no exercise at all. Of course, I didn't start out this way. I started with a two mile walk about ten weeks ago and built my way up. I'm really high on oats and now the cooked ground flax seed. I ate raw flax seed ground for awhile and I didn't notice any big changes. When I started cooking it I did. Now, when I exercise the sweat evaporates more quickly and my hair dries out well. In the past when I exercised my hair would be wet for hours. i would take a shower but my hair would not dry for a long time even if I blow dried it. It would dry but then I would start sweating again. Excessive sweating is a sign of weakness in your systems.
I think eating a high fiber diet is extremely important.
The diet the doctor reccommended seems kind of far out to me. Whatever diet you choose make sure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals you need plus essential fatty acids and essential amino acids. I was a vegetarian for awhile and i kept getting sick. I wasn't doing it right, i don't think. I havent been sick since I started eating meat again. Lean meats are the key. Good luck.

I have not eaten gluten or dairy products for 10 years. I also cut out fatty red meat and refined sugar (when I did all the above 5 years ago I got much much better then I got lazy and wait back on the sugar etc and got ill again.
I have recently had to go back to basics as I let myself slip back. I started smoking again, eating chocolate and sweets again etc.
Gluten really is not something humans are designed to eat (in my opinion) the same goes for dairy products....we are the only mammal in the animal kingdom that continues to drink milk and eat dairy after being weaned. if the rest of the animal kingdom stop there must be something in that.
Sugar (the refined white poisonous type) not the fruit type has NO BENEFITS whatsoever and is a dangerous little substance, you can add salt to that category as well!
I am studying nutrition now as a diploma after being to see a few different nutritionalists over the years and what you find out about the effects of foods on the body is unbelievable.
Red meat can be beneficial but eat the lean variety not the fatty red meat
Dairy produce and gluten grains for people that are well don't seem to be a problem. There are a lot of us however that these substances due to our lowered immune systems cause a problem to, our bodies just see them as an extra strain and spend all their precious resources on dealing with them instead of fighting what we are suffering from.
Therefore removing them from the diet gives the body a chance to do something to help the state of our health.
If you cut out any foods you have to make sure you are replacing the vitamins and nutrients that will be lost i.e B12, calcium etc. This should be done through taking supplements and through diet. Seek advice from a nutritionalist.
I am pleased to hear there is a doctor out there that is trying to see a way of helping people that doesn't just revolve around the use of drugs.
There are so many products on the shelves that are designed for people who can't eat gluten and dairy. The trick is to keep natural, no convience foods just natural plain foods, lots of veg, chicken (organic) fish and lots of variety
Rickard (I think that's his name) is now eating real foods that arn't processed (I hope) and lots of veg etc (Oats contain such a minimal amount of gluten so can be handled ok) The flax seed is helping so much I'm sure. This combined with a proper diet will really help someone suffering from CFS.
Most people want to be told take this pill and all will be fine, unfortunatley that is not the case and sacrifices and changes have to be made as well as adding foods that may not taste as good as chocolate.
