Would anyone have information on the practice of healing by the Native Americans? Are any of the herbs available over the web?

Hi Jasmine,
You should be able to find info by doing a web search on Native American herbs. Search yahoo, google, etc. There is an abundance of info available, and yes, many of the herbs used are available online.
Your question, as posed, is very vague. There are some illnesses and injuries that are treated as a specific set of symptoms and treatments. But, as a whole, I think that you'll find that "the practice of healing by the Native Americans" is NOT something you're going to find in a book or on a web page. NA healing is a way of life, NOT an Rx (prescription).
hope you find what you're looking for.

I ment no offense, I am fully aware the entire way of life and the foundations are much more than can be read about. I am also researching my geneaolgy and have been able to verify Cherokee heritage so my interest in not only medical, but as far as the medical ,... the road is taking us to a diagnosis of stomach cancer, I do not believe in Chemo or Radiation ... I believe the body can heal itself if given the right tools to do so. I am determined to avoid surgery at all costs.. I am making dramatic life changes and hurridley researching every option to be able to make informed decisions... Once again, I truly did not mean to simplify such a complex subject.. thanks

Jasmine-
As far as researching your genealogy, a few years ago we were in N.C., and stopped at the Cherokee Res. My wife is about 3/4 Cherokee and she was interested in tracking her past, so we bought the "Dawes Roll Plus" - of Cherokee Nation 1898 and "Guion Miller Roll Plus" - of the Eastern Cherokee - East and West of Mississippi 1909. Interesting stuff!
Now down to herbs, Find "How To Be Your Own Herbal Pharmacist" by Linda Rector - Page N.D.,Ph.D. Copyright 1991
This book will help you, and show you how to get up and seriously help you fight for your life.
How much herbal knowledge do you have? I only ask, because some of the better herbs should only be used by people who understand the risk.
Understanding Kinesiology will help you with the herbs that kill, in knowing a safe
dose that won't kill you. Good Luck!
 :bouncing:  ;)

Hi Jasmine,
I am SOOOO sorry! :o I know you weren't being offensive, and I certainly didn't mean to imply you were. I only meant to point out that NA herbology was not going to direct anyone towards a quick fix. I guess, sometimes, when I answer a post, I unintentionally put too much of a 'professional face' on my typing, and I come off as being too stern or unfriendly. Again, my apologies.
The fact is, I'm NOT very professional, definitely not unfriendly. Here, I'll describe my personality in one 4 letter word: :bouncing: :p  :D
Good luck researching your heritage, as well as your illness. Sorry you're experiencing that one! Sheesh, what a drag! :( I know of a college here in CA that specializes in treating cancer with nutrition and herbs, and they've had some excellent successes. You might want to check them out. The school name is Institute for Educational Therapy.
hope some of this helps, good luck!
