This is so frustrating. I have dark brown hair and it's such a pain b/c when I shave my underarms the hair doesn't look like it's been completely shaved and it's really embarassing to the point that I'm always self-conscioius when I'm wearing a bathing suit or anything without sleeves. Help! I'm 22 and I don't want to have to worry about this problem forever. I want to be like all those people who can just shave and wear cute clothing without worrying about people thinking I don't shave or something, it's so embarassing! Help!

Thanks,

Hi

I know it easy to say, but u know u shaved doesnt matter what other people think. I have dark hair too, and I shave too and I dont think it looks bad, and never had a problem with that.

I mean if people are smart they can tell u have dark hair that is why it doesnt look to clear.

But anyways are you walking with your hands up? Just joking, I mean it is hard to tell anyways. OK so stop worrying. Keep Smiling and be happy.

Hope it helps

I agree. Try not to stress about it so much. It's not like you walk around with your arms up the air all of the time.

OMG! I feel the same way! But I'm only fifteen... hmm.. Well, I don't really know what to do, but it happens to a lot of people! Trust me.... Try like Nair or something

I think I have a solution! :D

My hair is the same way - thick and dark (very noticable on a pale girl)... Shaving never works for me. The roots of the hairs are still visible, and I get stubble incredibly quickly! Nair isn't the answer either.. you get the same results you get from shaving. Shaving = cutting the hairs, Nair = chemically dissolving hairs (yet leaving behind the roots, like shaving).

So what is the answer, you ask? WAXING! There will be no darkness on your underarms because the hairs are removed completely - roots and all!

If you're willing to try waxing, I recommend Nair's microwavable wax. The cold wax never worked for me. Oh, and the pain isn't bad.. It's hardest the first time; waxing is easier every time after! But the best thing about waxing is the hair doesn't grow back for about a month... I hated having to shave every day.

Hope you give it a try!

You could have laser treatment. I had it done on the bikini line but when I was in the waiting room I was visiting with a friend who was doing it under her arms. I know it's expensive but if it means that much to you, you could save up for a year or so and have it done...Just a thought

If nothing else works and you are willing to spend the money I would seek out laser hair removal. Be sure to talk to the doctor about the color of your skin and if it will work...but it works best with dark hair. If your skin is dark talk to them about skin discoloration and the best system to use. It is supposed to be a permanent method, however I haven't really found that to be the case. I had to pay for 5 sessions (feels like a rubberband snapping you) and then the touch ups after the 5 sessions were free. Although I don't feel like it's permantly gone it definately reduced the growth time and made it finer. I also had it done to the sideburn area, belly and bikini line.

Hi,

I have the same problem... I usually use epilator (the Broun brand) to remove the hair. I also used to do waxing. The problem is after two or three weeks, when the hair starts growing back, I notice dark pigments on my skin. When I pick them I see some small piece of hair (rootless) coming out! Picking is a painful procedure (!) because it is endless and also after you get tired of doing that, still there are dark pigments and your skin is reddish and inflamed...

I talked to my dermatologist about this problem, but seemed to me that he cannot understand what I am talking about!! The only thing he said was that genetically I have a male-pattern hair growth and there is no solution for that!!! I can just use one of the permanent or semi permanent (like laser) hair removal methods to get rid of my problem!

I have very Dark Brown hair almost black, i use one of thoose shick intuition razor'z which are only about $7 but they give you a really close shave, since they have soap cartriges. But if you know you shaved, then i wouldnt worry about it.
