Hi everyone,
I am a little late in reporting today, so please forgive me. I decided that I would try and use the Tylenol over the counter instead of the pain pills. It seems to be workinf fine on my pain. I still have a little ear pain, but it is not that bad. I must let you know though, it is very hard to lay down on your pillow after you've had the surgery. My doctor suggested that I sleep upward. That was no problem for me since I have a recliner in my bedroom, so I just sleep on it. Wow! some of the best sleep I ever had.
I wanted to fill everyone in on the procedure that my ENT used. It is called the Harmonic Scalpel. I believe it cuts with vibration movements and low heat and it is not like a regular Scalpel. I know that not many doctors use this method and I believe their are only 10 here in Alabama that use this procedure. It speeds up the healing time for recovery and little if any bleeding.
When I awoke from the recovery room, it just felt like I had a sore throat. Then I thought, I am not feeling too much pain because of the pain medication. I know really once I get home and the real pain will kick in. It never did, the worst has been a low grade sore throat. My throat has hurt worse when I got a sore throat and I can't believe it. Especially, since they say the older the worse it is. It has really been good thus far with virtually no pain.
You still have the same post-op care, but there is less pain and it is wonderful. I hope this has been informative for some of you and I will gladly answer any questions that you have.
