I am 22 and for the last four years my doctors have told me I have anemia but all they've ever done is but me on Iron. I'm still dizzy when I stand up even on the iron. How did you find out your type of anemia?

Usually type of anemia can be established based on iron studies which include serum iron, total iron binding capasity, ferritin, also vitamin B-12 and folate levels, reticulocyte cvount, peripheral smear, etc. Sometimes it is even necessary to do a bone marrow aspiration/biopsy.
