Hi, Im new and I was just wondering if anybody could help me.I just got turned away from the blood doning center that I regularly attend as my haemoglobin count did not reached the required safety level 12.5, i actually only registered at 8.9 my bloods have been sent off for testing but i won't find out for 2 weeks.Does anybody have any suggestions on why it was low (or even if 8.9 is low?)i dont have a clue.Im not worried, just curious. Thanks in advance for any help, Katherine

Hi: 8.9 is pretty low; there could be many reasons for such a low hemoglobin- how about other blood work like your hematocrit and red blood cells- were these tested as well? I am sure your physician will be in touch with you to discuss his impressions but you do need to follow up with your doctor.
