I was given Suboxone to get off Vicoden and it worked great and I felt great. My Doc only allowed me to stay on it for 2 weeks and now I feel terrible as far as the depression and lethargy and cravings go. Ive noticed that some people seem to take Suboxone longer which is what I would like to do so I dont relapse. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks, kasb

Are you familiar with the withdrawals associated w/Suboxone? If you stay on it for more than 2 or 3 weeks, you will have to do a SLOW taper to get off of it. Even then you will have some withdrawals when you get off. Are you thinking about staying on it for a long time? It has been a wonder drug for me and I've been on it since Dec 1st. I have no plans of getting off of it. Have you tried na/aa meetings? In my opinion, if possible... try other avenues to stay sober like meetings and such. If you find that you just cannot continue to fight the fight, then see if you can find a doctor that will let you take it for as long as you want to. I absolutely would have ended up killing myself from lortabs if I had not found this drug. It's been a miracle for me. Although I know one day I will have to face coming off of it and the withdrawals that may be associated with it, I still would not trade it for anything. It has truly saved my life. It's your decision. It definitely helps w/depresson and just makes you feel like you've never even had drug problem. It does for me anyway. How many pills were you taking?

i was on buprenex for 4 years...it is the parental drug of suboxone/subutex...its all bupenorphine except mine was a larger dose and was muscular/injectable.......i was taking vikes about 50 a day....if i had lortab 10's i would take between 40 - 50 a day/oxycodone 300mg/any type of opiates...with the suboxone for maintance purposes it takes about 6 months for initial therapy, but we addicts are all different and our cases are different...someone who takes heroin may be on a larger dose for a longer period of time...hydrocodone addicts that were on 50mg a day are different than someone who was on 400mg a day...the thing is they treat you with subox to get you off of the pills and stop the w/d's,then slowly, ever so,wean you off the bupenorphine, then deaql with sobriety....docs can think addiction differently...my doc writes me a script for 60mg of methadone daily...he is a recovering addict,5 years sober,so he knows addiction....get my drift....chef

i would go to dr and check on an antidepressent and see if this helps before i went back to sub.the w/ds from sub last a long time after you have been on it awhile.sounds like you are over the worst of it so check on the antidepressent to see if it helps.i was on sub startin in may 01 and quit on dec 23 and the w/ds were rough and i was only takin 0.5mg per day.i think what messed my sub up was i used a couple of times while on the sub and after the last time i never seemed to get back to where i was at.good luck-spark

I agree!! How long have you not taken the sub? If it's been a little while see if you can hang in there a little more. There is no avoiding the wd's. Good luck!!
