Hi all,

I had been working 70+ hour weeks for the past few months and been feeling tired, had a checkup last week with cbc and liver panels.

RBC 3.8
WBC 4.5
Hemoglobin was a little low
HCt was a little low
Platelets 179

Billirubin 2.2 with direct and indirect being elevated.
Liver enzymes perfect.
Metabol panel also fine

THe doc who did the exam says take a multivitamin and go on. I saw my regular doc who immedately sent me for an ultrasound of the liver (ok) and took more blood as well as a fecal blood test (results not known) anyone seen anything similar to this? BTW I am a 32 Yr old Male with anemia as a child until age 14 (took Iron)

Thanks!

Well, it is not enough to say why you are anemic. What's your MCV? It could be hemolytic anemia (since indirect bilirubin is elevated) or iron deficiency anemia if, for example, you have gastrointestinal bleeding. It wouldn't hurt to check iron studies including reticulocyte count, serum haptoglobin, and LDH.

Well, from your symptoms, it could be a lot of things. It wouldn't hurt to check your thyroid. It can cause a lot of problems. I found out. Especially chronic fatigue. Do you have ANY of the following symptoms?

Unexplained weight gain
Nightmares
Bloating
Unable to lose weight
Chronic Fatigue
Swollen hands, feet
Excessive Hair Loss
Sensitive to Cold
Unable to concentrate
Mood Swings, Irritibility
Depression
Below Normal Body Temp. - (Mine is usually 96.4 in the a.m. and no more than 97.0 in evening)
Stiff Joints
Hormone Imbalance
Stress
Irregular menstral cycles
Sinus Problems
Feeling of fullness in throat or hoarse voice
Heart Palpatations
Panic Attacks
Wake up exhausted
High Blood Pressure
Sleeplessness
Nervousness
Nauseated a lot
Constipation
Feel like I have the flu
Stomach cramps
Wheezing (causes Asthma, but I don’t have that)
Difficulty Breathing

I know from experience that a thyroid condition called "Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome" does not show up on a blood test. It comes out as "normal". I had to have my RT3 blood test in order to determine if I had Wilson's. If the RT3 and T3 levels are disturbed, it is said that you have Wilsons.
