I'm new the Boards and have been reading the posts on and off, particularly on this board. I have a question about the drug Fioricet. Is this drug a narcotic. I have been getting mixed signals and have always thought of it as a narcotic. I have been using this drug for years, over a decade, for migraine headaches and need to know.

NO. Not a narc. If it is straight Fioricet (with no codeine (very mild narc)) then it is simply butalbital (barbiturate) and tylenol. Fiorinal is the same but aspirin instead of tyl. It is a headache med. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. I do feel addicted to this medication and have been taking it for so long. For about 10 years I had been taking it on and off, but now, since I've had a lot of extra (different) stress in my life, I've been taking 4 or 5 a day. I wonder how the 4 or 5 a day will affect my liver and kidneys. I have yet to have liver functions done to test this. I really feel ashamed that I've left it get to 5 a day. I realize this is not as bad as some of the other drugs, but it still bothers me knowing that the APAP can affect my liver. Any help on APAP and the liver?
