Hey!
I read in some threads that you were on the sub and your doctor cut you short because of your Klonopin? If you don't mind sharing, I like you to tell me the story.
That is one of the main reasons I had to stop my sub...my doctor found out I was taking Xanax (don't abuse it, never have, and never will) which I legitatemately need for anxiety. I take a very small amount and it does wonders for my anxiety and insomnia, but my sub doctor said NO to me being in the program while on Xanax.
Just thought it was interesting to hear someone else have a situation similar to mine- most of the people here on the board and on the sub take something for anxiety as well and their doctor's don't seem to have a problem with it.
What did you experience coming off the sub? My experience was awful! Care to share yours?
Thank you and hope to talk to you more about this,
Michelle :)

Sorry it took so long for the reply Michelle :D
Anyway, Ive never abused a benzo either. I take 2mg of klonopin am and pm but there is an interaction with naloxone and benzos, other hypnotic agents could be used but it's something about the benzodiazepines. Now it could be done but I was on a pretty high dose 24mg (suboxone) and 4mg of klonopin and the doctor gave me an option to go right on tegretol and die from DT's from abruptly stopping the klonopin or i get no subox. I asked if I could go on subutex for 5 days until I start my methadone program again since I have no choice and he said no. With him being an arab and all wearing 100 thousand dollars worth of gold looking like the iron sheik and me being very discouraged I said a few choice words to him that I didnt mean and had to kick on my own.
Now the bup is a very weak drug, it's a c3 narcotic unlike others are c2 so i figured it would be a breeze.... it was pure hell, by day 2 I was pure white, couldnt stop vomiting and everything was so foggy I couldnt even dial 911 if i wanted to. After being left all alone for hours my roomate came home and gave me an 80mg oxycontin and the symptoms went away. I chewed a few of those things for a weak just so I didnt ruin my sisters wedding and checked in 8 days later after almost getting a DUI, ON THE WAY to the treatment center because my pupils were constricted and I still had bruises on my forearms. Suboxone wasnt a good kick, if you're on it, stay on it. The w/d wasnt like methadone or morphine, it was like coming off of zoloft, methadone, and xanax all at once. Im done being a test subject with that.

Thanks for sharing!
Spark and I posted back and forth some conversing about the sub and getting off. My doctor just put his foot down to me being on it and the Xanax (and I only take about 1.5mgs throughout the day, maybe 2mgs).
I was a little prepared for the withdrawals- I did think in the back on my mind it would be easier though. It was rough- I did alot of vomitting which I didn't do with hydro withdrawals. And could not eat to save my life! I took a couple of Ultram here and there just to see me through it- it was so hard. I don't know if you read my post about the day my arm started tingling and then went dead- very scary!
Wonder why some doctors will let their patients take benzo's while on it and others are adamant about not taking benzo's?
How are you now? Are you having to take anything? Again, thanks for sharing and keep me posted as to how you are. Take care,
Michelle :)

some doctors will let you take a benzo "AT LOW DOSAGE" because they didnt go and take the 9 week suboxone class just to make some extra cash from rich junkies. The ones that let you take benzos were awake during the class. I went to a suboxone seminar accompanied by a friend who is an MD and learned a great deal.
But you're an opiate addict so you're going to take 30 xanax just to experience clamminess, dysphoria and be tired all day. Now my friend.... THAT is why people LIE about being an addict, because you'll never get a C class drug if your life depended on it. one more time..... IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT :D get it?

I am assuming you are being sarcastic? Are you meaing that is what the doctor is thinking- b/c I a an addict, I will take 30 Xanax??? I have NEVER abused my Xanax and have no desire to- that was and is NOT my pill of choice. I see what you are saying though (I think), because doctor's now view me as an addict, I will never be given a controlled substance??
That is like what I was saying on a thread about confiding to your general doctor that you were abusing pain meds- I did that once (a while back) and several months later went into this same clinic (saw a different doctor) but he suggested that he normally prescribes a mild narcotic decongestant for this condition I had, but would not after reading my medical chart. I was so humiliated! That's what I was trying to stress in that thread, that once you are labeled an addict, you can forget ever being prescribed certain things whether you would abuse them or not!
Anyway, I hope I understood your post correctly...I am a little slow today from NO SLEEP last night!
Take care you.
Michelle :)
