View Full Version : Driving Service for Housebound/Driving Restricted?

A friend of mine had her first seizure last month. She had recently moved to Atlanta with her husband & doesn't know anyone there very well yet. She, of course, won't be able to drive for several months.

Has anyone had experience with or can anyone recommend some kind of driving service to help her run errands while her husband is at work?
(They live out in the suburbs so MARTA/mass transit really isn't
feasible.)

One other thing: They have a 3 year old & she's worried she
might have another seizure while it's just her & their child at home.
Anyone have suggestions for precautions she can take?
Any other suggestions?

Many thanks,
Lissa

Lissa - I recommend that she check with her suburb's city hall. Several suburbs in my area provide "dial-a-ride" shuttle bus service independent of the metro transit system to those unable to drive. Service is subsidized by taxpayers. Good luck!

I think you should talk to your 3 yr old and roll play. Show her how to dial 911 and what a seizure looks like. (ie. if mommy is on the floor shaking go call 911) you would be surprised at what a 3 yr old can do. Of coarse none of us want that. A mothers helper would be nice, You could probably only get that after school or in the summer. (a 11-13yr old to play w/her, they work cheap because you there they can be young) well that's all I've got. God Bless. Crystal

Hi, My name is Mark, seizure condition well controlled. I just enjoy reading them. I have been in an accident with a severe head injury with 10 wk coma. 1500mg Depakote daily. If anyone out there has read of me at the Regional Center of Epilepsy at Harborview "HELLOOO"
