I've had seizures since I was a senior in high school and now I'm 31. Been on dilantin from the start until November of 2003. The dilantin just quit working all together I started having dizzy spells and seizures while taking the dilantin. I had my first wreck in 2003, blacked out and hit a telephone pole but think that was blood pressure related. So I ended up on blood pressure medicine and maybe seizure related. I've been on zonegran for two months and had an eeg done this morning to see there was an improvement from before. There wasn't, seizure activity on the left side of the brian only. So probably going to see my neruo next week or so. My friends at work are trying to get me to check in on getting on disability. Back in November 2003 I blacked out at work and was out for a month and a half. If it happens again I will be out 6 months or longer.
I usually get a warning sign like seeing spots before a seizure happens or a dizzy spell but the ones I have been having lately I have been getting no warning signs at all. They just happen.

I take 300mg on zonegran at bedtime. I tried taking one in the morning, dinner and supper and that screwed me up big time. There were a couple of times that I would be going down the road with my wife and all of a sudden I would have no clue where we where at or where we were going. It would last about 5 minutes and then everthing would come back to normal. Very strange, then I started taking my medicine all together before bedtime and I have done better.

Thanks
Jamie

Sorry that things have not been going so well! Do you feel like the Zonegran has helped with seizure control? Be sure to have a frank talk with your neuro and decide if you need to try a different med or stick with this one.

Hang in there. Hoping that things improve soon. Under ADA you may be entitled to some adjustments at work to help you when you have seizures.

I might feel a little better but I'm willing to try something else. This zonegran really messed me up to begin with but then I started taking it like the doctor wanted me to it seemed to do better. I thought taking all 3 at bedtime would hurt my stomach. I've had one maybe two dizzy spells since the med change but no warning signs this time. So I might try something else. I wonder if I should request another CT scan to see if there is anything going on, or is that going overboard?

Thanks
