My husband started sub on monday. He also stopped taking klonapin and the same time could that be why he is having crawling skin and pacing the floor? I think he may be w/d from klonapin. the sub worked great the first day after a horrible weekend of hydro w/d's. Any thoughts out there.
Thanks, S

Klonopin cant be stopped abruptly, he would be safer abusing hydrocodone than to cold turkey klonopin. How many mg of subox is he on and how many mg of klonopin was he taking. The 2 CAN be taken together if at the right dosage.

By saying abusing a narcotic is safer, i didnt mean to just keep popping the pills, i was just saying opiates are ranked number 3 with w/d complications. "Gaba" is what makes alchohol w/d fatal and klonopin is the main target of this receptor in your brain. Dont freak, not everyone will experience this but i'd titrate the klonopin. And your answer is yes, this is why he is so agitated. How long has it been since his lat k-pin?

Shemac,Hi I have been on and off klonipin for almost 2 years. The only problem that I have ever had when I stopped is I have a hard time sleeping I was taking 10mg at night but I am taking 2mg now I am on my break from it . you should not stop at once it is a good idea to tapper off slowly. I do not know to much about detoxing from pills for I am a recovered herion addict. But I hope that your husband has good luck with he's detoxs if you ever just need to talk or support I am always around and I will do what I can.

can he cut his klonipin intake by 10% every 2 or 3 weeks? That is a safe slow taper. BTW stopping any benzo cold turkey is a NO NO NO.

He was taking 1mg of Klonipin pm to sleep for the past 6mths. He is really having a hard time with the sub. Just took 2-2mg at 4:00 and by 5 he is "shaking inside" and HATES how he feels. Probably another sleepless night. Trying to eat dinner has to get up and walk around after a few bites. The sub work for the w/d's but he feels so crumby that he wants off the sub. He just started them Monday after about 50 hrs of dancing w/ the devil. Has any one felt this way when the started the sub? His dr is one of the one's that says your on this for life, husbands doesnt want on it for life. He started oxy's for one ruptured disc and 2 bulgers! And this is where he ended up. I feel so awful I'm the one that dicovered the "miracle" and now he feels like crap on it. Help please. He says its like a roller coaster up and down. Any first week of sub stories would help. He really gets help reading your suggestions.
Thanks again, S :

Shemac,

Hi. I don't think your husband feels bad because of the sub, but because he abruptly stopped the klonopin. As everybody stated here, just stopping a beno is a no-no and the w/d is often tougher than coming off any opiate and take a long time.

Right now, i'm taking 8mg sub, and 1 mg of klonopin at night. I have no problems with the combination. I think that some Drs. are more paranoid than others in having their patients take both at the same time.

BTW, Sub has done wonders for me. I feel good, no cravings, energy. And talk about sleep at night; with the klonopin, I think it enhances that because i've often fallen asleep holding a book in my hand with the light on. Weird.

It's too bad he can't reap the benefits of suboxone because his Dr. is making hiim go off klonopin at the same time. Why would the Dr. do that? i don;t understand.

Shemac,

My sub doctor did the same thing to me. I took a small dose of Xanax for anxiety and when my sub doctor found that out he said, NO, NO! But alteast he had the good sense to tell me to taper off. In the long run, I stopped taking the sub.

But, I can't imagine any doctor telling a patient just to stop a benzo. I would be willing to bet that his your husband's problem. I would taper off the klonopin slowly and explain to your doctor that you have researched the proper way to come off a benzo and doing it cold-turkey is NOT the way- it is very dangerous.

Best of luck to you two and please keep me posted. God bless,
MIchelle

Yep - sounds like benzo withdrawal. You should never ever c/t a benzo.

Thanks again everyone and again you hit the nail right on the head. We call the Dr. and he has but hubby back on the Klonipin. Husband still wants of the sub, doesn't want to take it for the rest of his life. He's only been on it for a week. What would it be like to get off now? Thanks, S
