Since My Acdf C5-6 With Own Bone And Plate I Have Experienced Nerve Pulsating Under Left Eye And Last Night It Progressed To A Full Pull Of The Bottom Lid And Part Of The Top.
I Know It Can Be Caused By Pressure To The Nerve Or Occipital Nerve As My Mom Is 81 And Has It From Numerous Neck Injuries Resulting From Hits To Chin Falling From Osteo Condition.
Her Neurologist Found No Irregularities In Her Mri But Offered Botux Injections If It Got Oppressive. She Is Still Debating And Was Given Tegratol To Try And Quiet The Nerve. To Date, The Med Does Nothing.
My Dilemna Is That Last Night It Pulled So Much That My Eyeball Was Pulling Too. I Know I Lifted Some Groceries Yesterday A.m. And There Is Definitely A Correlation As To How I Am Sitting And Activity. This A.m. I Awoke With Nothing And By The Time I Dryed Hair And Made Kids Breakie It Has Started. I Took Piece Of Muscle Relaxant Left From Prior To Surgery But That Has Not Sedated It.
I Have To Admit, This Is Really Frightening As When Bad, It Really Pulls All My Lid And The Left Side Of My Facial Cheek. Masking Pain, Masking Scars, Masking One's Own Fear To Be Able To Recover With Courage Is One Thing But This Facial Tremor Is Really Uncomfortable And Emotionally Debilitating After All That I Have Gone Through.
Anybody Else Get This. My Chiro Told Me Last Time I Will Get These Things As The Neck Adjusts But I Haven't Seen Anybody Talk About This. It's Almost Like A Very Slight Bell's Palsy And I Know It Isn't But That Would Adequately Describe The Look And Movement.
I Researched It For My Mom Last Year, Since She Has Had It, And Found That Dystonia Can Onset After Neck Injury Or Surgery Which This Tremor Is Symptomatic Of Dystonia.
Anyway, Any Input Would Be Truly Appreciated.
Sincerely,
...really Trying To Be Nearly New Again.... Nero

No ... I haven't had this happen to me. I can understand how it would be emotionally debilitating, like you said (as well as uncomfortable). I'm sorry you are having to deal with this for picking up a bag of groceries. Your story makes me want to be more aware of what I am doing so as not to upset the nice balance my nerves have found.
Just wanted to offer some support!! ((((HUGS))))

Hi Nero,
I wish I could tell you why this is happening, but I can't. What I can tell you is that I have had the same exact left eye tremor too for the past few weeks. It doesn't happen every day, and it doesn't happen all day, but when it happens it freaks me out a bit too. It must have something to do with our necks and the nerves. Mine has been so noticeable that a few people thought I was winking at them!! (whoops!)
When I meet the NS in Canada for my Bryan disc, I will be asking him about this twitching. I'll let you know if I find anything out. I get back in town first week of February.
Regards,
Sue

Thanks for the support and input. Thank god DonnaKay you don't have this as I think you have had more than your share with this second surgery. You are kind and I appreciate the "Hugs" and support.
Srivito, you are right about the strength of the nerve pulling your eye to wink. Thank god it eased up today as i was getting ready to go for Botux shots if it didn't ease up. THere is no way I am living with that facial spasm 24 -7. I know its the nerve from the occipital nerve that goes around your head. My right side of jaw has been very tight and sore and there must be all kinds of adjustments going on in our neck and heads etc with this post surgery recovery. Thank you for sharing as it is nice to know that someone else can relate even though I truly wish you didn't have to endure this fun tic as well.
Otherwise, I was doing great and felt human again, even bought concert tickets for April/04 for my daughter and I. Oh well. c'est la vie... let me know what you find out.
Sincerely, thank god not nearly nutty but nearly new again... Nero
