Last night, I gave my husband oral sex. I didn't see any outbreak on him at the time; but then again, I didn't really look. Two hours later he began an outbreak and told me he just started feeling the symptoms. We don't know exactly when the outbreak started but it was two hours after I went down on him that he saw it. I am concerned because after I gave him oral sex, I didn't wash up until he said something. This is his first outbreak in a very long time, about 4 months. For some reason I wasn't concerned about the virus when I gave him oral sex but now I am!

My question is, can I still catch the virus if the outbreak happened an hour or so later? Was this outbreak already beginning when I went down on him?

I'm consummed with worry and I didn't get any sleep last night..help!

sorry just want to clarify that both my husband and I have type 2 genitally....so technically can I catch the same disease twice (meaning type 2 on my mouth)? I've been on Acyclovir suppressive therapy for a year now (I think I can still contract a new infection on my mouth but not sure)...What do you think?

While Herpes 2 doesn't choose the mouth as it's preferred place to appear, it is possible to contract it there. If your husband didn't have an OB and you didn't have any broken skin, then your chances of not getting it are better. Also, you do have antibodies already and you're on antiviral therapy, so it would seem that you're chances are slim. Even if you do get it, H2 suposedly reoccurs a lot less on the mouth than H1 on the mouth or H2 below.
