View Full Version : Shortness of Breath

Has anyone ever experienced any shortness of breath while on blood pressure meds. It's more like not being able to get a full breath and it certainly isn't a constant thing but when it happens it is quite bothersome. I am currently on diovan 160 and it is doing a pretty good job . My doctor said it is problably anxiety because I dont't like taking meds but it really started with the onset of the meds in July. I went off of them after one month and the feeling subsided greatly, however when my BP shot up again at the end of Oct I decided to go back on the meds. After about two months the same problem seems to be happening again. Any feedback would be appreciated....

ad,

I think the "not being able to get a full breath" syndrome is usually anxiety-hypervigilantism. If the body is truly short of oxygen anywhere (especially the heart) you will experience "shortness" of breath which actually means rapid, almost gasping breaths that are unsatisfying.

If your deep breaths seem "unfulfilling" for want of a better word, try some rib cage stretching with light weights overhead on your back. Try to stretch the ribs as open as you can get them. See if you can increase the capacity of each breath that way.

I doubt the BP meds are related to the phenomenon in any way.

Zip.... Thank you for your reply. The reason for my concern is that this started about two days after i took my first bp pill that it why i was wondering if it could be related.

I agree with zip, I've had this happen to me when I got really strung out.
