Hi again. I went back to the doctor yesterday and he advised that I take 1 to 3 ferous sulfate pills per day. I am very anxious to start feeling better. I am iron deficient but not anemic. Can ayone give me some good news that these pills really work quick in improving symptoms!?

When you say you're iron deficient but not anemic, I'm assuming your ferriten is low but your hemoglobin is normal? I know it takes a little while for your iron to return to normal, but that's because generally people have to build up their hemoglobin before their body can start storing iron again. Since you don't need to get your hemoglobin up, the iron should go right to your stores. If you do some searches on the internet, you'll find that iron is best absorbed when taken with Vitamin C, and there are several things can block the absorption of iron. The iron supplements can upset your stomach and are best tolerated with food; however, it's absorbed better on an empty stomach. My hematalogist told me that I was better off taking one pill on an empty stomach instead of three pills with food....but he also said he hasn't had a patient yet that can tolerate the iron on an empty stomach! Good luck!
