If your nose is bleeding farther back, it will run down your throat (unless you are tipping your head back anyway). This is not "weird" per-se, just not as common as bleeds from the front. They are also harder to stop - especially for anemics since pinching, icing, etc. don't help. I have had bleeds that have lasted for over two hours ---- drip, drip, drip. All the medical advice says seeks help for a bleed that lasts more than 15 minutes. However, if you have ever had your nose packed -- trust me this is an experience you will wish not to repeat. If you live in a dry environment or are exposed to irritants in the air (dust, mold, smoke, pollen, pet hair, etc.), you can buy a clear ointment from the pharmacist - over the counter that will help to prevent nosebleeds if this is the cause. The pharmacist will ask what it is for because some coke addicts will mix their drugs into the ointment and coat the inside of their noses with it - so maybe don't go if you have a cold or a red, itchy, sniffly nose.
