Hi, my BP is pretty borderline, generally around 140 over 90, plus or minus 5 to 10 points. But it has been this way for a while so the doc proscribed 20 mgs of lisinopril. I've read that it is common to start with a lower dose and work up. Does that make sense? What dose would you recommend?
Thanks

If you have uncomplicated essential hypertension, the recommended initial dose for lisinopril is 10 mg once a day. Then the dosage can be be adjusted according to blood pressure response. The USUAL dosage range is 20 to 40 mg per day taken once a day in a single dose.

With your #s, the 20mg should work well. Don't know if you have other health issues going on, but wonder if 10mg (or even less) would work just as well. (?)

Hi
I had borderline BP but a little higher than yours. I was started off at 2.5mgs and then changed to 5mgs when the blood test was Ok. This sorted out my BP for a while but the side effects became too unpleasant and my Bp increased so I came off lisinopril. Hope you dont suffer as I did,

En
