I have osteo arthritis in spine, neck shoulders etc. Was told I also have Old Schaamann's disease? I'm not sure what that is. At the moment I have pain in my right big toe on the bone. No! It is not gout as I have been tested for that. Is it arthritis? My father, now deceased, had arthritis in his big toe from an very early age.He even tried to run it over with a tractor because he was in so much agony. I am not on any medication for the arthritis as I prefer to use natural methods.

Your pain in your big toe (right or left side) is Hallux Rigidus (which means in Latin - Rigid Big Toe). I had have that problem in my right toe, where the range of motion diminshed somewhat and the joint became slightly enlarged. Its related to osteo-arthritis (my situation wasn't GOUT either). You should consider special orthotics for your feet (sole inserts) which can be prescribed by a podiatrist. I got a pair and they worked well, I can run in them now, generally without any problems!
