Like I said, been having major headaches for couple months now. I decided to get my bp checked at work and here are the readings. Keep in mind I'm always at 110/70 or around there. 1/23 10:00PM 131/90
1/24 12:30 130/88
4:00 130/90
7:00 130/90
9:00 142/90
Now I can see bp's jumping up or down depending on the stresses of the day, but to stay high all day long???? My bp has always been naturally low. What do you guys think? Could this all be just sinuses? I'm going to the doc but want your opinions also. TIA

If you spiked up that high once in a while amongst a bunch of 110/70 readings, then I would not worry too much. If the trend continues each day where your systolics are above 135 mm Hg and your diastolics are near 90 or above, then I would go after it aggressively. You could try reduing the amount of sodium that you intake and see if some progress is made. If you can lose weight, that normally benefits it too. If nothing else works and you continue at the levels above, then yes, I would go on an oral med to help.
I took oral meds for years and would not hesitate to go back on an ACE inhibitor or diuretic if my hypertension returned. In my case, losing weight took my levels from 170/112 (untreated) down to 110/70 currently (untreated).

From 227 lbs to (at one point) 147 lbs. Below 155 lbs, my bp runs near 100/60. At 165 lbs, it's up near 120/75, just to give you and idea of how great an impact 10 lbs will make in my case. I am currently working my way back down to 155 lbs and should be there in a few months. It will be interesting to see if I can drop my average bp back to the 100/60 readings I had before. I can see the improvement (110/70 at near 160 lbs) because I still attend cardiac rehab weekly and they have monitored my levels multiple times during each session for each week the last two years.
I keep track at home too, but I rely more on their levels since I am using an automatic bp monitor...

Thank You! Thank you! That is encouraging!! I am not over weight according to some. I am only 5'2" and when I started this journey to decrease my blood pressure, I was weighing 138. Because I am smalled boned, the weight charts say I should weigh 120! I thought at my age 120 would not look good. But if getting down to that weight as recommended by the health charts would get me too numbers like yours, then I am going for it. Incidentally when I started by pressure was as high as 170/110!! My doctor started me on Diovan HCT 80, and said that would not be enough, she felt that she would have to increase it on my next visit. Instead my pressure went down to 108/60. I think the combination of the weight loss (only 6 lbs.) and the meds must have done it. I am now weighing 130, so I only have 10 more pounds to go. I hope and pray that will do the trick. Thanks again for the encouragement.
