Hi everyone. I've been lurking on here reading all your posts for awhile. First off I'm not bi-polar but it sounds like my sister was. She would lie to us continuously, even when she knew that we knew she was lying, very promiscuous, spent money like it grew on trees and she didn't have much to spend, incredible mood swings, she just couldn't be happy for long. I could name many other similarities but it would take up to much of everyone's time. Unfortunately she died 10 years ago so there is no way of establishing whether she was bi-polar or not. I'm thinking of a career change (would like to become a counsellor maybe) and that is why I have been here reading your stories. I'd like to know as much about mental health as possible but I'm still not sure if that is what i want to do.

You might want to check the NAMI web site. They have lots of info on mental illnesses.
Best of luck in whatever direction you decide to go.
