View Full Version : Rheumatoid Arthiritis could be an allergic reaction.

I did not believe it. But I convinced a family member, diagnosed with RA, to try it. It has been several years since since they had to take the medication.

It turns out that I found a book at a bookstore called Arthiritis the allergy conection. In the book a Britsh doctor spoke of several things that were caused by allergic reactions, like acne, migraines, asthma and Rheumatioid Arthiritis.

The basic procedure to find out what it is that is causing the pain is going on an elimination diet. First you take a lacsitive and clean out the pipes. Then you eat things like white fish, carrots and a couple of other things that he spoke of that will not cause anyone a n allergic reaction. You do not eat or drink anything or eat anyting that could be suspect. (there is a place on the internet that gives the diet for free. the other site has the details.) After several days you will feel worse and after seven days you will feel a lot better.

Well guinea pig did it. While on the elimination diet, the pais got worse ( they stopped taking all the pills for the pain) day 3 they were really bad, day 6 again they were bad, day 7 to 8 there was no pain. On day 8 they started adding one thing to their diet per day. After several days they hit the first thing that gave them pain. They ate broccoli. It turns out they were deathly allergic to broccoli and a couple of other things. When you eat something bad you will know it because the pain will come back within 15 min to 30 min. Then you have to lay off the foods and go back to your basic diet plus what you have already cleared.

The hardest part of the diet is to learn the families of things, and what families are more likely to cause an allergic reaction. It changes depending on what the individual has been sensitized to. The book talks about, milk, some flours and several other things that have a higher possibility of causing trouble.

Now, when they go to a chinese restaurant they ask for the food without the broccoli and other offending foods. If the cook sneaks broccoli juice into the food or just pulls out the pieces after it's cooked the pain comes in 15 min. So they know there was broccoli in it.

Sounds incredible. But it's true. I am not selling anyting! The only reason I am telling the story is, I promised someone in an important place that if they could give us a hand with this problem, I would make sure I told as many people as I could. So, they helped -- And I'm tellin'!

RA is actually a bacterial infection of the joints which does benefit from antibiotic therapy and dietary changes.

The science is new, most people don't know it yet including doctors. In a few years there will be wonderful new treatment protocols to help those suffering with RA.

To Steven re your response above.

Steven, please read my Mar. 6 reply under the topic of minocin by Bfox. I'm LizzieC. You are so right about arthritis being a bacterial infection. Their are hundreds of people using this antibiotic therapy check out the Roadback Foundation website to hear all the good reports and positive findings. Nothing worked for me including diet until I
found out about these alternative treatments you are also right about the regular dr.s not knowing how to treat. In almost every report at the Roadback website they practically had to beg their dr.s to let them try this new type of therapy. Me included. Honest to God this is the best I have felt in 3 years! Go for it!

Wow, that post really hits home with me. I have allergies, acne and asthma. I'm a 24 yr old female and all of a sudden, my doctor is testing me for Rheumatoid arthritis. I have no idea why, at my age, I would have this. I went into the doctor yesterday, thinking I had a sprained or broken finger. It turns out the joint was swollen and they ended up doing bloodwork on me. I was so shocked but this makes total sense. Does anyone know anything else about this?

As a result of doing my own research on the internet into this very topic, I started my own elimination diet ten days ago (based on the one at drmcdougall.com). I'm pleased to report that my knee inflammation has subsided and I can walk again without limping. I've been eating brown rice, green & yellow vegetables, some fresh fruit, fish, and drinking water only. I have eliminated sugar, meat, dairy, wheat, corn, ALL processed foods, all chemicals, all hydrogenated fats, and I don't miss any of those foods! Well, I do miss the sugar somewhat, but I'll NOT return to it!!!!!! I love feeling normal again. (Rosalee)

My personal update...... I still have not eaten sugar, red meat, dairy, hydrogenated fats, wheat or any processed foods. I've started physical therapy for the legs and see a dramatic improvement. Although I don't think I had R/A (probably O/A) I truly believe in the dietary approach!

All of these are symptoms of gluten intolerance. Gluten is the protein found in many grains including wheat. The gluten triggers an autoimmune response is some. Not saying that is what you have, but it is something to consider. You can find our more info by doing a search for gluten free diet.
