I was wondering if anyone knows if taking *supplements* (e.g. creatine, thermogenics, glutamine, greens, minerals, protein supplements, etc) could cause hair loss?

I know that people on the juice lose their hair, but if someone trained and went on all these supplements w/o hitting the 'roids, could they also end up losing their hair? My trainer seems to think so, but then again, it could be that most of the people she has observed, are on the juice.

I'm not sure of the specific supplements that you have mentioned, but I do know that if you take too much of a certain vitamin, etc., it can cause a toxicity in your system which may cause you, among other things, to lose your hair. My sis-in-law took prenatal vitamins while she was pregnant, and they actually caused her hair to shed.

That's a good question, though, and one that I am interested in seeing an answer to, as I am planning to start drinking protein shakes. I will be back to see if anyone has answered your question. :)

There is no real evidence to prove any of the supplements you have mention can or have caused male pattern baldness. None of the supplements increase testosterone levels like anabolic steroids do. Most natural bodybuilders who ONLY take creatine, L-glutamine and protein powders do not get the side effects(acne, kideny and liver complications, hair loss, ect) than other bodybuilders who take illegal supplements such as growth hormones and anabolic steroids. Creatine, glutamine and protein do not function(raise testosterone levels) the same way as anabolic steroids do. Although some minerals do raise testosterone levels but at a very gradual rate. These vitamin/minerals include - zinc, vitamin B6, and magnesium. But they only help produce a very small amount of testosterone. But you need to take very large amounts of these vitamin/minerals in order to see ANY rise in anabolic hormone levels.
