I have tried every product in the stores, from products containing Pyrithione Zinc to Coal Tar to Salicylic Acid. My dandruff flakes will not go away! I do not use any styling products. Is there any natural remedies? Help, please!

Kia-
It may not be dandruff- it could be sebhorreic dermatitis- my daughter has it- it looks a lot like dandruff, but not. Have you tried Tea Tree Oil? This seems to help my daughter- the dandruff shampoos made it worse.

Good Luck!

Take a look at your scalp -- is it dry? red? or oily? You may have dermatitis like Maak said or possibly psoriasis, which I found out I had last winter when my "dandruff" wouldn't go away w/ regular shampoos. You may want your doctor to take a look at it, I'm sure he/she could tell you what you have.
Tea Tree oil does work for some scalp conditions at least temporarily, so you can try some of that!

My scalp is not oily or red, however it does seem a bit dry. I have dry skin as well as something called keratosis pilaris on my arms.

Try pouring some Listerine over your head after you finish washing and rinsing you hair in the shower. Gently rub it into your scalp and let it sit for a minute, then rinse it out. That works for me!

Nioxin and Nizoral are the only products that work for my scalp psoriasis.

if you have dry scalp wash your hair everyday. use head and shoulders for dandruff or ask your stylist what to use they would know more that posting a message board about it.

This past saturday I went for a hircut, my hairdresser told me I had a very dry scalp and had me buy Paul Mitchells tea tree shampoo along with the tea tree hair and scalp treatment, it cools and tingles your scalp when applied, i highly recommend it. its a little exspensive, but well worth it!! I think its only sold in salons.

Paul Mitchell has a shampoo with tea tree oil and other stuff in it. Its a stong peppermint fragrance. that last all day. I been using it for almost 2 weeks and my hair is soft, shiny, ect. It helped with my dryscalp as well.

Before determining that it is dandruff check it out with a doctor. The cheap way to do it is to stop in at your local health department. I have psoriasis and use the Nizoral. I order it from the Wal-Mart pharmacy so that I can get MG217, a stronger strenght. However, there was a period where I was visiting my mom, who is on well water and I developed a worse case. I went to see the doctor and was told that it was a fungal infection of the scalp. They prescibed a much stronger strength of Nizoral for me and it cleared it right up.
My grandmother swears by using Apple Cider vinegar on her scalp after shampooing. Gets kinda expensive as you can't just use any old vinegar.
Also, switching each time you buy shampoo works for me. One time it is zince based, then sasylic <sp?> acid based, tar based (which is now illegal in CA), or Ketoconazole. Each time one works for awhile. I try to keep several on hand. Also, sunshine. Sunshine works wonders.

My hair dresser told me that I have dry scalp which is different than dandruff. She said dandruff is from an oily head. She said to try some kind of a conditioner but I don't remember the name. I'll have to ask again.

You all need to take essential oils. YOur body is made of the food you eat, the water you drink and the air you breath, modified by various environmentals.
Malnutrition is responsible for dandruff.
Shampoo will not cure it.

My dandruff won't go away either. I've tried the shampoos like Nizoral, and Head and Shoulders. I've also tried tea tree oil. Nothing seems to help. :( Next I'm going to try the Apple cider vinegar rinse (mixed with rosemary) and see how that works. BTW, I found some inexpensive A.C.V. at lifesvigor.com.

If your dandruff does not go away, it might not be dandruff. I have psoriasis, which I can kind of keep under control, especially in the summer when I can sit in the sun for at least fifteen minutes a day but right now I have a yeast infection on my head. It resembles dandruff, but isn't dandruff. I get a special shampoo from the doc that clears it right up. I get it when I go to visit my mom and use well water when I shower. My mom gets it all of the time.

So, if your dandruff just won't go away, it may not be dandruff :)

I think there might be something to the sunlight thing. My scalp itches and flakes like crazy during the winter...shampoos don't help.
I don't have this problem during the summer when I can drive my convertable.
