Just to let you know that I am off medication if all goes well for the next 2 months. I took the list of BP's taken since Friday when I got the monitor to the doctor today and she could see that the first reading was consistently higher than the next 2. I'd previously told her that when the nurse missed a reading and pumped it up again the reading was always high. The nurse only took one reading and I am one of those who finds the pressure painful so I probably didn't need medication! The side effects of the nifedipine continue but are getting better. Last week I seemed to have the feelings one has when one is nervous although I wasn't nervous about anything and now the oedema has reached my ankles but today I felt well enough to go swimming. I found the muscles in my arms very weak although my legs were strong enough to give a good Kick. Thanks for your help,

En

Hey en08-
A couple of months off meds will give your body time to recuperate from all the side effects you've been experiencing.
Just monitor your own BP at home and watch for "creep-ups".
What again were your readings before you embarked on the medication merry-go-round?

Okay, En...fingers crossed that your BP stays down and that you never needed any meds in the first place!
Keep us informed as to how you fare, okay?

(PS. Lucky you to have a veterinarian in the family..My vet bills over the years are bigger than my own!)
