View Full Version : Any advice on my Paxil withdrawal?

Hello everyone.

I took my last tiny dose of Paxil on Saturday. Today is Tuesday. My withdrawal symptoms have not been severe. I am not missing work or any social obligations. This is how it is going for me:

I alternate between being chilled and being hot.
I feel wired with lots of energy.
I have strange sweaty nightmares all night long.
Sometimes I get shaky and jittery (about twice a day), and when it happens I take .25 mg of Xanax which gets rid of it.
Small headaches.

By now do you all think is it safe to say I will not have any new side effects, and these will keep subsiding as they already are? Or do you think I could still have some sort of crash ahead of me where things go really bad?

I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Josie

Do a search on the net for Paxil withdrawl and Brain Zaps. I was a Paxil user for 2 years and now am suing them for all they have.

Thank you Audrey Judith! I will do that, for sure.

Did it give you the relief you were seeking when you took it?

Hi Redfish.

I was on it for 3 months, at 20 mg. It gave me great relief from my anxiety. That part of it was wonderful. Things and people who used to annoy me and get me worked up didn't matter anymore. I loved the feeling it gave me, like, "you can't say anything that will hurt me, because I don't care what you think about me." Before Paxil I was always worried about people judging me. Paxil also took away my insomnia problems too, and for me it actually increased my sex drive (which I have heard sometimes happens for women but for men it usually is the reverse effect).

The downsides for me was that it took away my motivation to do anything, so I was starting to miss out on life. It made me sleep alot, I went from weighing 114 pounds to weighing 130 in this short time (most of my clothes are not fitting now, and I have to keep my waistband buttons open and cover the waist with big sweaters), it made my face start looking really puffy in the end. I even tried going down to 10 mg for a while but these side effects were still there.

So anyway, the last straw was when my face started looking so bad. My eyes got this puffiness that I have never seen in my face before. People kept telling me that I look tired, and asking if I am sick. That's when I made the personal decision that the cost was not worth the benefit.

For the next few months, I am going to try to fight my depression and anxiety with exercise, nutrition, therapy, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Who know though how this will work? This is a long battle we are fighting. There is no perfect solution.
