What do you all think about them- or cliff bars, preva, harvest, etc...
benefits? Cons? Do you use them only when working out? or as a meal?

I have CLIFF bars, Power Bars, and Luna Bars over all the others. The others are just candy bars with added vitamins. I usually have one as a snack, but not a meal replacement as I don't want to loose any weight.

I also find them VERY useful in helping me stay away from cookies and other junk food when I have my "sweet attack". I just take about 2 bites of the Chocolate CLIFF bar and my craving is satisfied. :) They are soooo good!

Oh, and make sure you drink lots of water when having them to absorb the vitamins and stuff. ;)

The cons are that they contain soy protein isolate. Soy can inhibit thyroid function. Your menstrual cyle can be affected, your overall metabolism affected and that is only a few of the many serious consequences of thyroid disfunction. Soy is not the health food that clever marketing and advertising agencies make it out to be. It is very scary, not healthy. Soy depletes some vitamins and minerals that is why the power bar needs to add them. Be suspect of ANY food that has to add in vitamins and minerals. Ask yourself WHY if this food is so nutritious does it need to add supplementation. When you eat fresh fruit or vegetables is there anything added to them to make them healthier? Also, how about all of the additives that are in the bars?
