Thought I was doing ok. Then I started my period. Ended up going to
sleep with no problems. Woke up this morning with a huge sore on my butt. And I started my period then. Didn't get upset or stessed out the day before. Been
taking my vitamins and supplements. Even been using garlic oil when I get the
tingle. Don't know what else to do. Don't ever want to get on pharmaceuticals.
Been there done that. Would rather use naturals. Any advice from other women not getting outbreaks when they get their period would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Butterfly,
I get OBs just after my period. Usually exactly 2 days after. That's today, but I started my pills up a day late and I'm wondering if there's a correlation and my OB that should be here today will come tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed, but it really is amazing how you can to go bed with nothing and wake up with a doozy. If herpes wasn't such a pain I'd actually admire it's trickyness and ability to work so fast. It's rather ingenious!
That aside, what supps do you take? How long since you've been at them? It seemed like it took a few months for everything to really start to kick in for me. I feel like a major help was taking lysine first thing in the morning. I personally take 1000mg EVERY morning first thing. I keep it by my bed and take it a good 45 minutes or so before I eat anything. I used to take it, but not on an empty stomach and I've heard that that's an important part... something about more being absorbed. Whether this is true or the effect is purely mental, I feel like it's made a difference for me. I also take Olive leaf extract and garlic tablets.
I was doing lots of raw garlic for awhile, but it got to be too much work. I was also taking Oil of Oregano, but i decided to narrow it down to just a suppliments to as to find out what's really working.
I know how frustrating it is when you feel like you're doing everything right and you STILL get your stupid OB. Have faith, though. I feel like everyone has their right combination of foods (to eat AND to NOT eat) and suppliments and rest and excercise that will keep their OBs at bay. Pharmaceuticals work for some people, but I'm with you on not wanting to use them. It's just a personal preference.
Do you get OBs anywhere but your bum? Just wondering.
Take good care. I hope this OB goes away fast.

I take 2,000 mgs. of Lysine every morning on an empty stomach. Then I take an additional 2,000 later in the day again on an empty stomach. I have been eating garlic and been taking garlic capsules every day. I have been using that garlic oil and that really works when you feel that tingle. I have these immune boosters that I bought off of this website to be free of obs. In them is astragalus which I did reading about and I will be just buying these in the future. I also take a B-complex daily. I just started with the garlic stuff a couple of months ago. I have been taking Lysine for years plus eating yogurt. I haven't tried the OLE yet. I have been trying to avoid caffeine and chocolate which contains arginine that can stimulate an ob.
I actually had a couple cups of coffee one day and didn't get an ob. I ate a small piece of chocolate several weeks ago and didn't get an ob either. So, whether it depends on how much you eat and drink triggers an ob or maybe these pills do help in preventing one.
I have had this disease for 20 years. There was several years that went by when I didn't have any obs. Stress plays a huge factor in this and I guess back then I wasn't stressed out much. I do know that I was drinking coffee every day and M&Ms were always in the house. I have been on the pharmaceuticals for several years and was still getting obs. Plus, I had to keep getting my blood checked since they can destroy your liver. That was when I started natural stuff.
That is about the only good thing with this disease is that I only get them at the base of my spinal cord or on the bum area. In the beginning, I did go through months with having to use a cup of water every time I went to the bathroom. Then for some reason I don't get the obs there anymore. My doctor actually took a scrapping of it because she never seen anyone get an ob on the rear. It did come back positive. I take Ibuprofen for the pain and that does help.
I read on these boards that putting aloe on them speeds the healing. So, hopefully it will go away fast then I can hope to not get one next month.
