I have had this horrible pain in the top of my hand for a few weeks now. It tends to come and go. It is not located in a joint though? It it right in the top, center of my hand. Feels like a bad cramp. Could this be arthritis?

I've had pain like that too and the Dr. told me it's Tendinitis. Bextra has helped a lot with that pain as well as my arthritis pain.

You need to go to a doctor and see if the cause of the pain can be diagnosed. If it turns out to be arthritis, there are several herbs you might try. They are good anti-inflammatories. Turmeric standardized to 95% curcumin is very good. I use it myself. You need to get at least 1200 milligrams of curcumin per day. Ease into taking it and build up the dosage over 2 or 3 weeks. Feverfew or devil"s claw are supposed to be good, also. I haven't used them, since the turmeric does the job for me.

Can you get tumeric in pill form or should I just use it out of my spice rack?

I have RA and before my meds kicked in I had a pocket of fluid on top of both hands, started at the wrist & went up. My left hand gets puffy all the way across it. I have had pain & even red streaks before any swelling.

Here's a handy flow chart concerning what diff hand/wrist pain can possibly be, suggested self care untill you see the DR.

http://familydoctor.org/526.xml

According to my DR. I have deQuervain's Tendinitis and I can tell you it's very painful at times.

I hope you see a DR and find out exactly what your hand pain is from.
