hi!... when i went to the hospital, they prescribed me 100mg of zoloft and was just wondering what the starting dose usually is normally...

I was on Zoloft about 3 years ago and I think I started at something like 25mg or 50mg... I think 100mg might be a wee bit on the high side, but then again, I guess we sometimes just have to trust the doctors. What did you go to the hospital for? Just curious--no pressure to answer if you don't feel comfortable doing so. Take care!

I was on Zoloft a few years ago and my Dr., (a pyschiatrist), started me a 50 Mg, then after a week increased it to 100 MG, and then I stayed there.

the reason i went to the hospital was to change meds because the lexapro they gave me the first time i went to the hospital didnt work and i was feeling even worse than my first visit, so...

My "trist" says that less than 100mg/day of Zoloft isn't effective (although the PDR says 50mg should be the initial dose). Some docs will start it at a low dose and gradually increase it over several days in order to minimize GI upset.

I think I started at 25 for a few days then went to 50. I stayed at 50 for a few months then went to 100 because the effects seemed to be wearing off. Eventually I stopped taking it because it wasn't really working for me.
