My TMJ has gotten so bad due to stress that I'm having really bad ear, neck, facial, eye pain on the left side. My regular dentist doesn't seem to be able to help other than pain meds. Should I be looking for a specialist that deals with TMJ? If so, what kind should I be looking for? Thanks for any help.

i'd definitely look for another dentist who is more concerned with finding out why you are having those symptoms. you need to get some diagnostic testing done to see if you have articular changes to the condyles, if your discs are displaced, or if you have primarily muscular problems.
it's also very important that you feel comfortable with the dentist, and that s/he listens to what your current symptoms are.
no one can be a TMJD specialist because no such specialty exists. thus, be wary of people who profess that they are specialists. they might be good but they might be bad.
