Quick question. I have only had one seizure in my life and that was 6 weeks ago. I am on 300 mg of dilantin for now. One thing I am curious about is that sometimes I feel tingling on my head. It's kind of like when your hand or foot goes to sleep. It doesn't last long, it's just weird.
Is this a sign of anything? I'm hoping not, because I truly don't want it to be. Any clues????

Hi Hootowlmom,
I'm not sure if what you are experiencing is a sign of anything or not but I can tell you my son (diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy 3 yrs ago following one seizure and several abnormal EEG's) has complained of "brain shaking". We have recently weaned him off of Depakote and this happened a couple of times during that process. He also said it is like a "tiny earthquake" in his head. He is only 7, so this is how he describes what he felt. Could be similar to what you are experiencing. We go back to the neurologist next month, then we do another EEG to see if he is having abnormal activity again. I know this is not much help. If you are able to find out what is happening, please post that information. I would really like to know. Hope you continue to be seizure free and that your medications work for you without too many of those awful side effects.

I have had that exact tingling of my head for months now. I haven't had it constantly but once in a while. It has never developed into anything more for me. I asked my psychiatrist (who's a neuro psychiatrist) about it and he said not to worry, could be a medication side effect. I too have had only one seizure in my life (5 years ago) but am still on Tegretol for mood stabilization. I'd maybe ask your doc if it concerns you but I wouldn't worry too much.
Oh, what meds are you on?
