Depending on what type of cancer it is (in terms of the cell type...usually it's a glandular cancer...i.e. adenocarcinoma) and how far it's spread, determines the prognosis. Is it small bowel cancer or large bowel cancer? The latter is much more common. Bowel cancer is pretty serious, but like I said before, depending on how far it's spread or if it has infilitrated something else, determines the prognosis. It's cured with regional resection of the diseaed bowel, and also with adjuvant chemotherapy to help clear any other cells which may have been left behind. Sometimes they'll also give radiation to the area.

The bad part about bowel cancer is that it can spread....the favourite sites for bowel cancer to spread are lung, liver, bone and brain. When that happens, it's much more serious and leads to a more poor prognosis.

Oh, my grandfather had bowel cancer, the tumor was soooo large that if had grown even a millimeter more it would've killed him. But he had it removed, not before being diagnosed with liver cancer (i remember that day picture perfectly, it was the day before they removed the bowel tumor, and they came in and told us straight, it was the only thing in the world that i have cried more than 2 hours for, i even cried the next day and the next.... it was heart wrenching.....)....

please, do PM me, I have to go to class bye!!!
