Help! I really don't know what this is... and it is really annoying me... I have gotten red dots on and off.. back and forth.. scattered all over the place, mostly not in the same place ( as my doctor says herpes would keep to the same spot) I've had 3 or 4 dots that are miles apart from eachother.. sometimes half way down my leg, sometimes near my pubic region. They start off as red spots.. Hardly raised, if not at all. then within a day they form less than a milimeter thick whitehead... sometimes i pop then, sometimes i leave them alone... when i tend to touch them, they stay longer.. but when i leave them alone, they go away within THREE DAYS!! I dont get it.. after 3 or 4 days, i may get 1 or 2 more of those. different spots, etc... my doc says herpes generally wouldnt overlap with Outbreaks like that... any suggestions what this is, and IF this sounds like herpes.. I also had a cluster of small less than a millimeter spots and my doc still said no to those aswell... They never hurt, open sores, puss out, crust, or flake... Seems like the Fuciden cream helps a bit.. not sure though.. What shoud I do??

Herpes blisters aren't like the typical whitehead pimple. And it pretty much hurts if it's big enough to see. Did your dr say what he thought they were?

no he did not suggest anything.. he thought it might be imflammed hair folliciles because he said that there are hairs that are so small that we cannot see so those could be getting irritated

Go to another doctor!!

I've been to three! :( If I contracted oral herpes (HSV1) on my genitals, will a blood test show up as me having HSV1 which is commonly oral? so i wouldnt then think that I only have mouth herpes? I would then have to get a culture to make sure these spots are HSV active or what?

I've had foliculitis as well. It definitley involved constant puss-filled bumps (hair follicles) and is usually caused by either staph or strep. He had it all over my legs and they would leave little scars for awhile. Definitley rule this out before you start thinking herpes... although it would seem that a doctor would have figured that one out by now...... hmmmm. Good luck!

I can almost guaruntee you that it isnt herpes. Its folliculitis and you probably just need some light antibiotics. Make sure your derm writes the script asap.

not sure. get oral antibiotics. The folliculitis may get worse at first. It is a die off reaction. dont worry and keep taking them until its gone ok man
